In August, I was invited to Antigua and Barbuda by the Tourism Board to spend five days on the Island to experience some of the resorts and activities firsthand to help me further sell Antigua to my clients.
I must say, I fell in love with Antigua. I had been there once before a few years back on a cruise stop, and truthfully don’t remember much about my day there. I know we were with friends and we toured the Island.
When I arrived in Antigua my group was taken to Blue Waters Resort.
This is probably my favorite moment at each resort. They bring you cool towels. FABULOUS INDEED! Seriously, this is the best thing ever! I even asked her to come home with me!
I stayed there for two nights. I had a Deluxe Beachfront Room and enjoyed every minute.
I had my own little balcony with seating area and a ceiling fan! I had a nice view.
I wish I had been able to experience their pool or beach, as this was the only property that I was able to stay at that had those amenities.
Restaurants
There are three restaurants and three bars. I ate at all three restaurants, and all were amazing.
Palm Restaurant
Palm Restaurant is surrounded by the landscaped gardens and overlooks the Caribbean Sea, the Palm Restaurant offers its guests a decidedly Caribbean al fresco dining experience.
During the day this is a relaxed Caribbean café atmosphere, perfect for those who want to get their day off to a brilliant start. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace adjacent to the restaurant as the sun shines down.
As night falls the Palm Restaurant takes on a more refined feel, bestowing the restaurant with a sophisticated atmosphere as you dine under a star speckled sky.
I had breakfast here each morning, and it was a yummy buffet and I got an omelet from the omelet station each day!
Bartley’s Restaurant
Bartley’s Restaurant is one of the only restaurants in Antigua offering comfortable, air-conditioned dining in an intimate setting. Situated within the main hotel complex, the elegantly appointed Bartley’s Restaurant offers the perfect opportunity for guests to share a romantic dinner, celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an evening of delectable entrees, fine wines, and great company.
We had dinner here on the first night. We were delighted with custom light up menus! Very, very spoiled!
Those are crack biscuits. No really, they were incredibly addictive and made from chickpeas!
By they way, I didn’t eat all of this, we all took pictures of each others food. But those shrimp, I did eat and they were divine! They brought a lot of special things to our table for the table to share. We were being hosted by the Manager and were for sure treated very well! At our table of eight we had several special diet needs and they were handled very professionally and well.
The palate cleanser was very good!
The Cove Restaurant
Uniquely situated on a cliff top, the Cove Restaurant combines Caribbean and French cuisine with flair.
As guests arrive at the Cove Restaurant, they will be greeted by flaming torches and a dramatic entrance leading onto a candlelit hall. Once inside, it won’t take long for guests to become mesmerised by breath-taking views of the Caribbean Sea.
The restaurant is included in the all-inclusive plan and for those of you looking for something even more special we have the ‘Connoisseurs Choice’ selection for some of the finest cuts of meats available all for just a US $10 supplement.
Our second night we had dinner here, and again custom light up menus were there and we had an amazing meal. Again with the special diet needs, handled very well. This night we were hosted by the Second Manager.
It had started to rain while we were there and they have these awnings that launched themselves to provide additional coverage for people dining near the edge of the restaurant.
I had the frozen berries and they were so yummy!
You poured the warm white chocolate sauce over them, seriously so good!
Entertainment
There is nightly entertainment in the main Lobby area. They played great music each night that I was there!
Other Accommodations
As I mentioned, I had a Deluxe Beachfront Room, there is also Superior Hillside, these are both categorized as Hotel Rooms. They have Hotel Suites: Hillside Junior Suite, Beachfront Junior Suite and Luxury Suite, Cove Suites: Cove Suites and The Cove Penthouses, and Villas: Pelican House (3 bedrooms), Turtle Cottage (4 Bedrooms) and Rock Cottage (5 Bedrooms).
There are many different options depending on your needs.
Other Information
There is a kids club on site.
There is a spa, and I didn’t get to visit it, I definitely need to go back!
